He joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18 and was discharged in 2002 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 2003 he became a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He is suspected of being involved with unsanctioned operations, but to date no proof has surfaced.
In 2008, he was partnered with Zane Garrett.

Profile: Preston was born March 13, 1978 in or around Perth, Australia.
Not much is known about Preston after 1999, when he was sent to East Timor as part of the Australian Special Air Service. After being charged with shooting an Irish officer in a conflict, he escaped justice, and dropped off the grid.
Reports surfaced that he was working with a CIA operative named Julian Cross. When Cross was reported KIA, Preston disappeared once more.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Statistics and Spanish. He chose the Federal Bureau of Investigation over Law School, and in 1990 he was assigned to the Dallas Field Office.
In 1997, he was promoted to the Criminal Investigative Division and moved to Bethesda. In 2003, his wife was killed in a car accident, sending him into a personal and professional spiral.
In 2008, he was partnered with Ty Grady.
